“The Path” is a video art film that portrays a suited businessman struggling up a hill. His long journey is constant and challenging: focused on reaching the top, he hopes to discover his oasis.

His accent was shot on Super 8 black and white film to create a sense of timeless ambiguity, and at such a steep angle to keep the top out of frame. The top of his hill, and our own, is often more of an illusion than an actual place. A dreamlike image of a young boys’ reflection appears on the water then dissolves into the image of the man in the business suit.

The memory of his youth offers a brief moment of reprise and freedom from his stride: a faint memory that has been washing away throughout time. His brief refuge becomes overshadowed by his determination to get back on the path. As he nears what seems to be the peak, he falters and slips back to the bottom, seemingly unaware of the endless continuum and futility of his course.
